I paid $150 for an Uber at 4 pm. At 6:37, I got an email with news of a two hour delay. I would’ve appreciated an earlier notice. But much worse was the boarding experience. As half the passengers had boarded, someone announced that we had to have everyone boarded and seated in 5 minutes, or else the crew would time out, and we’d have to stay in WPalm. This set off a frenzy, with seated passengers yelling at the people boarding to hurry!! I was told by the pilot while exiting in LGA, that we made it by 30 seconds! It could’ve been handled so much better!"

Staff were loud throughout this evening flight where everyone tried to get some shut eye. NOT kid friendly. overhead bins didn't fit the standard carry on correctly requiring everyone to place them sideways with wasted space and therefore not enough luggage room for everyone, crowding an already fully booked flight. Cons: "Plane was diverted back to Toronto from LaGuardia airport as we were told due to "weather", landed late at night and were told that due to not being able to control weather WestJet could not assist with accommodations, leaving everyone stranded and scrambling to find a room in alreday booked up hotels. When speaking on phone with agent, I was told it wasn't due to weather but incident at LaGuardia where plane went off runway. I paid $130.00 for 5 hours in a hotel, due to pilot error, not weather. La Guardia opened it's other runway immediately after and other airports in NewYork were running fine. Completely unacceptable and extremely bad customer service as CSR simply told us "sorry we can't help". Will never book with West Jet again."

The board only had 1 update to my departure time, which was 30 mins after the originally scheduled time, and did not update again until 25 minutes after that second time had passed. The lounge staff did not make an announcement until after that board update and even then the information was wrong. The one time I found someone to ask a question to, I was given the same information. I had no idea why there was a delay or what to expect and no way of finding out. It made coordinating next steps upon my arrival to my destination extremely difficult. The lounge is not particularly well-equipped for multiple delayed flights."

Then the rebooking process took way too long after the staff at the airport said it would take 20 minutes. The website is extremely confusing about which flight you are rebooked, confirmed or on standby. After waiting at the airport for five hours, I still ended up having to spend the night in Toronto. I flew back the next day after my flight was rebooked four times... I filed a claim for hotel reimbursement, but no responses after three days...."

Cons: "the flight was delayed many times with no real explanation. i tried calling customer service to get on an earlier flight, wait time was 75 minutes, and i found out that the earlier flights had been over sold so there were no openings... and they cancelled other flights later in the day which is why the earlier flights were overbooked. Also, the flight attendants seem to be militant about everything during take off and landing (this is not a good thing). If a customer wants to land with headphones in, i do not see a problem. this seems to be a change from every other porter flight ive been on."

Cons: "- My first flight was delayed and I wasn't notified until an hour beforehand (even though the flight was delayed due to an incoming flight they knew well ahead of an hour beforehand would not be there). I could have arrived at the airport later and paid less for my parking. - I was told by a gate agent I would still make my very tight connection (spoiler alert - I did not), so I did not ask to be rebooked on a later connection immediately. - Once it became clear I would likely miss my connection due to being delayed after boarding, I asked again about it, this time of a flight attendant. I was told there were 23 daily flights a day to my connecting city (there are not) and it would be fine. We sat on the tarmac for 30 minutes after landing waiting for a gate and the last hope of making that connection was gone. - Upon arrival in Toronto it turns out my connecting flight was cancelled and everyone had to be rebooked. The very pleasant customer service rep told me not to worry! They automatically rebook everyone and I've been scheduled to leave 10 flights later - the following morning. At 12:45 p.m. their best solution was a flight at 8:30 the next morning (later canceled). When I calmly explained that was not ideal, I was immediately given the "last seat out today" on a 9:30 flight (later delayed then canceled). I'm not sure who they were saving that for, but it is unacceptable to rebook people for the next day when they have free seats. I was resigned to spending 9 hours in the terminal (literally just a room with a few snacks) because I was also on standby for every flight until then, and fortunately after checking in again 5 hours later, I was handed a ticket for the flight leaving in 15 minutes. If I had followed Porter's original plan, I have no idea when I would have made it, as I already mentioned both of those other flights were later canceled and I've already gone over how Porter rebooks passengers. - I found out after I spent $20 Canadian on a sandwich and chips via the Porter website that they are supposed to give meal vouchers in a significant delay, but I was not offered one. - On the way back, I saw myself being set up for the same rigmarole. My first flight was delayed more than a half hour, leaving me with a very tight connection. Thankfully, I arrived at the airport earlier and was able to catch an earlier flight because as it turns out, the connecting flight I would have missed due to the delay ended up being canceled. I can only imagine what the rebooking process would have been, so I am glad Porter is accommodating about switching flights. I imagine they do so to save them the rebooking later, but still, it is not something all airlines will do. - Both flights out to Montreal were incredibly hot. I tend to run cold and I was sweating. The flights home on a warmer day were fine, so I'm not sure what was going on there."

I'd think you would understand any one look to see the status of flights in Newark on their phone and see visibility was a few broken and visibility 10. So lying only puts distrust in paasangeners!"
Pros: "Small airport. Easy to find everything. Ferry ride fun. Staff did not seem happy to be at work nor did they smile or acknowledge me. I asked 2 staff questions and was barked at: red line! And was told to get into a line that was non existent outside of security."

I was told it was my choice but that if it didn't fit in the overhead I would have to come back out and put it on the rack. I was very dismayed when I got off the plane to see that I had to wait in the hallway for quite a while until my luggage appeared. It was a real traffic jam of people. I really wish I had put my luggage in the overhead. Also, minutes before boarding we were told to go and verify our passports. It was quite a rush to run to the other end of the room, wait in line and then get to the boarding gate. I barely made it back in time even though I had been waiting there for nearly an hour ."
Pros: "One of the hostesses from Toronto to Halifax was one of the sweetest and caring people. She was the younger of the two women (for lack of her name) and I wish I had taken her name to be able to let Porter know how nice she was! She really made the whole trip so pleasant."

I had an early morning flight and so beat the traffic, as I'm sure that picks up later in the day. Online checkin was easy and simple. I did not have any check-in luggage, only carry-on, suspect that also made it easier. The Porter airlines support call center was very helpful and friendly There were complimentary coffee and snacks at the gate... was a really nice feeling. Liked the waiting area at the gates, comfortable seating. Plane was on time. No issues"

So taking a later flight on Porter may be problematic as getting to the airport would be more difficult. The language in the email ticket confirmation made me a little concerned, as it mentioned having to re-confirm the booking and being at the airport at least 3 hours ahead even though the flight time was only 1:05 hours etc. But after calling in to the support center, the concerns were cleared up."

Cons: "I fly weekly for work, but last week I got to fly to Toronto for pleasure to see my fiancé. In all of my years of traveling, I have missed a flight maybe 5 times due to traffic, weather, or other uncontrollable factors. It happened to be that on my way to Chicago Midway, there was an accident on the road that stopped traffic dead for 40 minutes. When I arrived at the airport, I begged for people to help me out by letting me cut security lines so that I wouldn't be late, but alas...others were also rushed and the TSA agents weren't too helpful. I arrived at the gate for my flight about 3 minutes late in defeat. Oh well - it happens! What was really unpleasant was that nobody would help me out. I was charged $150 to "change" my flight instead of just getting rebooked on the next one the way any other airline would happily do. And to top it all off, I was given the runaround with 3 different Porter employees diffusing responsibility. I will be moving to Toronto after the wedding but will still work out of Chicago - which means that I could provide business to Porter Airlines for the next few decades! Because of this poor service, you have lost my business. I would rather fly with another airline where customer service is a priority. Losing years of a customer's weekly business over a $150 fee seems to me to be a rather poor business model and I am sorry that the bureaucratic rules in this case could not be bent."

Cons: "This time my flight was cancelled. For no particular reasons (not due to weather). That was the only flight that was cancelled of the whole day. All other were flying. They did not say why. My guess is not enough passenger on the flight to make it worth it to fly for them. They rebooked me 24 hours later. I called customer service to ask for support and I received no support at all. I explained I was having a high risk pregnancy and was out of medication and needed to be at my DR appointment I had the next morning in Chicago. They said that there's nothing they can do. They also said additionally we also want to mention that we do not support for accomadation cost. I did not even ask but it's like they wanted to highlight that no support is given. I asked to speak to a supervisor. Told him I would like support to rebook a non Porter flight to get on time to Chicago. Again he said I am sorry we don't do that. I mentioned I was shocked that they don't even care that I was saying it was a medical reason and I asked for his name saying I will hold Porter responsible if any difficulty would happen because of this. At that point they searched for a solution. He said ok you can be on a flight but you need to board in 30 minutes. Impossible for me to do where I was but this should have been proposed to me earlier so I could have made it. And I would have done it. I was forced to fly on Copa rather than Avianca because they did not have any other flights to Bogotá. How is it possible that a Colombian airline could not offer another flight to the capital city of Colombia? Ridiculous

Too much delay in the first two flights, so I lost the connection to the final destination.

Cabin was extremely hot - such a sauna, and all complaints were in vain. Boarding was messy and disorganized. Very poor experience and certainly a statement of how passengers are going to suffer in Brazil with the lack of competition in the local market.
