Pros:Buena noche, Kayak. Es la peor experiencia de renta de autos. Un robo. Al llegar a Cancun desde la ciudad de Mexico me dirigí a recibir el vehiculo y la arrendadora me dijo que el mismo no podia ser apartado por mas de una hora y el vehiculo que me ofrecian implicaba un pago de mas del 200% de lo que pagué originalmente. Por supuesto rechacé estas condiciones y pedí el rembolso de mi dinero y me comentaron que revisara la devolucion con Ace puesto que el mismo no me lo iban a rembolsar. ¡¿Como es posible pagar $3,400 y que el vehiculo no este disponible y que te propongan darte un vehiculo pagando $6000 mas?! Para hacer un total de $9000?! Un robo sin lugar a dudas. Debido a que no acepté y no usé el vehículo si quiero apoyo para que me indiquen como procede el rembolso de mi dinero, por favor. El malestar es porque llegamos del vuelo mi esposa, mis fos hijos de 10 meses y yo. Necesitabamos el vehiculo para trasladar a mi familia y sin lugar a dudas me quisieron ver la cara con esta renta. Tried to Scam Me... DO NOT RENT AT ACEPros:Nothing... they are lying cheats... DO NOT Rent From ACE.Cons:Reserved with Months in Advance at a price of U$16 per day for a 2 week rental. Due to plane delays, the shit-show in customs and then NO ACE stand or person in the airport... finally made it to their Office 1:30- 2 hours behind schedule. The slimeball at the counter told me they no longer had my reservation... that they would make a new one and the new price would be U$60 per day with No Insurance Coverage or U$75 per day with full coverage. Pros:Staff was very friendly and were accommodating. But when I reserve a vehicle, I expect that vehicle to be there, ready to go. Don’t tell me that I have to wait 30t to 45 minutes for my vehicle to be “approved”! Whatever that means. It’s already a long day traveling with a baby.Cons:What I said above. Nightmare in CancunPros:NothingCons:When we arrived at the airport there was not any car rental stage for Ace Rental Company. Somebody who was not their colleague said that our transfer bus will pick up us soon and will bring us to the place where we can pick the rented car up. After the transferring we arrived at Ace and Mex rental company stages where Ace was closed (1:00pm). We had to rent the car from Max because they took over Ace reserved car renting as they told us. Before our holiday I spoke with an operator from Ace via phone who said that I can pay the deposit with debit card but at Max can not accepted this paying method so I had to move forward to Budget who can solve this issue but the car rental was $142 instead of $49 that we booked before. As a (7+ year) customer of, I would expect that would have properly vetted its vendor partners (like Costco Travel does, for example). I thought a $2.50 USD car rental (total for an intermediate vehicle, for 4 days, and no hidden fees, according to the fine print) with Ace Rent a Car in Cancun, Mexico (see attached screenshot for confirmation number, please) was Too Good to be True (as they say), but I trusted (as I have had the best experience in the past) that it was backed by a customer satisfaction guarantee. The vendor email (from did not specify where to go once at the airport. Referencing my confirmation email, I called the company. They asked what I was wearing and in front of which (numbered) airport door and terminal I was standing at. They promised to pick me up in 5 minutes. I waited an hour. When I called back (twice), no one answered (even though it was still within business hours). No one ever called to check up on me (i.e. letting me know that they couldn't find me at the location I indicated to them). I then decided to look at customer reviews on Google Maps. Ace is rated 1.5 out of 5 stars. The comments are accurate. My (newlywed) wife and I had to walk across two parking lots to find a name brand car rental office that provided a better service for a fair price. Now I have to contact my credit card company for a refund (big deal... it's just $2.50), but it's also the hassle, the bad taste in my mouth, the questioning (for the first time) of's vendor selection (and thus, backing) policy, and questioning whether my credit card information is now compromised with a shady company ( and/or Ace Rent a Car). Please consider removing the vendor and that pricing offer from your search engine/results. Or... at least please consider secret shopping the vendor if you're hesitant to remove them your search listings based on my feedback and online reviews.'s reputation is at stake. Thank you. Terrible experience in CancunPros:Price was attractiveCons:The 7-seater that we had booked in Cancun was unavailable when we got to the car rental and we were offer instead an...11-seater bus that neither my wife not I could drive confidently given the size. We were told that a Chevy Suburban might be available "in a couple of hours" but the car had not yet been returned by previous client. This failed to instill much confidence and we asked our booking to be cancelled. We hope that ACE will return the c.$800 that we paid for the failed rental as they failed to honor their part of the contract. At this stage, we will not recommend ACE to any one considering that on top of the money already paid we had to add some insurance (despite our credit card insurance blanket) which would have made the cost comparable to what we paid at Hertz.Reviewed 30 Dec. 2015

Pros:Worst customer service I have ever received in my life. I didn’t take the car but I was still charged. They would not accept my USAA insurance and they wanted me to pay $240 for insurance. Do not rent with Ace!Cons:We had to wait almost 30 min for the airport shuttle and then there wasn't enough room for everyone. When we finally got there we were told that they had to place a hold on a credit card for $2,500.00. When we said that that was too much for a hold we were told that another option was to buy their insurance for $500. When we said that this was not mentioned online when we booked they showed us fine print that said a deposit would be required. A deposit is standard for a rental car but never $2,500.00. My husband and I left and prepared to go back to the airport for a shuttle to the resort. A representative from Hertz saw us and helped us by giving us a car at a fair price and reasonable hold. Be ready for the unexpectedPros:After driving the kia optima for 15 days, I came to appreciate it's acceleration, great brakes and comfort.Cons:Always check with your home insurance before renting in Mexico. The car was cheap to rent at 178.00 but mandatory liability added at $29 a day with $800 on hold on your credit card or $59 per day full coverage with a $200 hold on your card. Ended up paying $733 for entire trip. In Cancun there is no booth at the airport. Ace shares a space with Fox Car Rentals. Called them but they never sent a van. We finally walked our luggage across the street from the airport to find their office. The RAVs we rented were not coming until nightime. They only had one RAV in their inventory so they offered us the new Optimas. Every step was a long wait. The best part was the reliability of the car and returning it was quick. They did return us to the airport. Warning: If you get a traffic ticket in Mexico, police remove the license plate until you pay and show proof. You cannot return the car without its plates. Do not rent a car without plates as many policemen will stop you and demand a bribe. We met other tourists with this problem. We were targeted by police in Campeche because the car was a rental and we were foreigners. They nearly confiscated my brother's license and asked for a bribe of $108 which we paid.Reviewed 19 Aug. 2017
