HorriblePros:What a rip off to say the least. I would've expected that kayak would provide information that the cars are not at all how they are listed. A SUV = a Yaris?? in Cancun. Rental rate was 7 dollars a day, however apparently in Mexico you have to purchase mandatory insurance that is up to 30 dollars a day. I had to rent a 12 passenger car because I have 5 individuals and the cars they had on the lots were all Yaris size [even though my rental was for a SUV]. I ended up spending over $500 renting the car for my trip, which original total was 50 dollar prior to my departure. Worse experience ever!!! NEVER rent from here such a scam!!!Reviewed 8 Dec. 2015

Cons:Upon our arrival to Cancun that there was no representative to meet us at the rental stand. A representative from another company told us that EZ ran out of cars. I asked if they had any cars left and how much it would cost with insurance and they said $300 USD per day! We had no choice but to get on the ADO bus to get to Playa Del Carmen and take collectivo to Tulum from there. Luckily I've done that ride before and knew how easy it would be (cost under $20 per person for both bus and collectivo). I wish EZ had the courtesy of at least emailing us to tell us they didn't have any cars. at the end we spent on taxis way less than it would cost us to rent a car at $300 per day for a week.Reviewed 12 Jan. 2016

Pros:Open 24 x 7Cons:In Cancún the service is provided by AMERICA car rental. Coordinating the pickup was difficult, we lost about an hour waiting and arranging, the guy on the phone was a little bit rude. After we were brought to the office, we had to wait another hour because they had more customers in the line. They try to force you to take their insurance by putting a deposit of $7000 for a compact car if you want to use your own insurance. I booked a Dodge Avenger and they offered a VM Gol and I was told it was one of the newest cars: it was a lie. The car had scratches everywhere, it was dirty with stains on the roof, broken pieces, seat couldn't be adjusted and had noises while driving.Reviewed 6 Nov. 2018

Cons:When I arrived in the airport they asked me and another couple to wait for van transport to the car rental office. After an hour of waiting I called the office - they told me they were out of cars, despite my reservation. The other couple also had a reservation but got no car. They left me stranded at night in the Cancun airport after the last direct bus to my destination had left. I ended up having to take several buses over 8 hours. Workers at the airport told me this company regularly rents out reserved cars to a higher bidder. I will never use them again.Reviewed 11 Jan. 2016

No booth, no clear info.Cons:We had a reservation for a car. Our flight was delayed. When we got to Cancun, there was no ez rent a car booth. We looked everywhere and when we asked, people did not know this company. After a while I was able to get internet access and then found out ez rent a car operates under another company, America Car Rental. when we went to their booth, there was nobody there. On the confirmation email I received from Kayak there was no such information about this company operating under another name in Cancun. we had to take a cab to our hotel, fortunately for us there was a National Car rental there.Reviewed 6 Jan. 2016

Stay AwayPros:Nothing.Cons:The company is supposed to have a van that picks you up at the Cancun airport to take you to the pick up location. When we arrived, there was no van and several other people like ourselves who were left stranded at the airport with no car in the middle of the night. We tried calling several times, but there was no answer at their customer support number. Speaking to other car rental agencies at the terminal, it was a very busy night and all companies except Hertz were totally sold out of rentals. My guess is that E-Z Rent-A-Car overbooked and sold out earlier in the night. Instead of notifying customers who were left without a car, or attempting to make some kind of alternative arrangement (or even keeping someone around to answer the phone), they just closed up shop and went home leaving a dozen or so people stranded at the airport. Extremely unprofessional. In the end, we had to take a very expensive taxi (which we had to wait for over an hour for) instead and make arrangements with a different rental company the next day. Noone ever followed up from the company regarding the rental.Reviewed 3 Jan. 2016

Worst company ever.Pros:I am glad this experience is over and now I know to never use this company again. I am glad I never have to deal with the horrible agent in Cancun who was the most condescending #@%& I have possibly her had to deal with. This company is the worst! Do not use them.Cons:I was lied to by an E-Z rent a car agent who assured me that the amount I agreed to pay was all I would be charged. I was charged $200 more at the pick up location (that took 45 min to get to) and told if I didn't pay it they wouldn't give me the car. I tried to straighten this out and hold them accountable for the price they guaranteed before I left and after multiple calls, them not returning messages or emails, was told, even though it was an US agent who guaranteed the price, I need to call the location in Mexico and they aren't responsible for international rentals.Reviewed 28 Jan. 2016

Asked us for a $30k deposit for a used Grand Caravan....LOL. ClownsCons:Ya, you read that right, $30k deposit. Not in midst of arguing about something else but as part of a welcome, here is your car and this is the deposit requirement. They also require about $100 per day in local insurance. These guys are clowns. Cars looked old and beat up. Location is 4 to 6 miles away from airport, down some industrial road. Good luck trying to get a taxi to take you elsewhere. No taxis and no phone number to call for a taxi. Also, no one answers at EZ cust service. Getting trapped is an understatement. Stay away from EZ. Cons:The listing advertises that the operator is located in the terminal. This is not correct. E-Z acts as a forwarder to another car rental company, American (?), who will send a representative to the terminal with a sign with the name of the reservation to meet you at the terminal. However, none of this is explained in the rental confirmation. We determined this after the fact by researching the company online. We did not see anyone with our name at the airport when our flight arrived, and no one working at the airport or trying to sell us a taxi had ever heard of E-Z rental company. (This makes sense because they weren't there.) We had to take an expensive taxi to our hotel at midnight (with two small children) and, to make matters worse, the staff was incredibly unhelpful the next day when we called their office. We rented a car from another company the next day at a much higher rate, which we could have avoided if we had made arrangements with other companies that were competitively priced to E-Z.Reviewed 11 Feb. 2016

NOT in terminal... Beater carPros:The drop off went surprisingly smooth.Cons:We chose this rental company because of price and because they advertised as "in terminal." Not true. After a long flight we had no idea where to find the rental place and spent an hour looking for a shuttle, not a rental window in the airport. Then we spent another hour waiting to get our actual car. Part of the bumper was missing and it had scratches and dents all over. Pulling out we were told not to leave on the radio or air conditioning or to leave the lights on because the car would not start back up. The check engine light also came on. Stir away from AMERICAN RENTAL in MEXICOPros:NothingCons:They tried to force me in buying collision DW insurance even if I have a credit card that covers it automatically and after I turned down the coverage they asked to hold $5000 on my credit card I called LUXURY CARD and my Black AX and they said this is unheard of. The car i was given was the worst I have ever driven- NO POWER STIRRING-lights inside the car did not work.
