Give me a price from the beginning with a seat assignment."

Cons: "Boarding procedures were not directed in an organized manner by Turkish Airlines staff. The gate staff need training in how to direct the boarding session i.e. passengers needing assistance first (seniors, families with children under 6), then business class, then Group A, Group B etc. These categories are used by other airlines for good reason - they regulate the flow of people onto the aircraft and prevent out-of-control crowding at the boarding counter. People with legitimate right to board first understandably become irate. In addition, on the flight from Istanbul to Abuja there was an unexpected stop in Tunis. Passengers were not advised of this stop in advance. Even upon arrival in Tunis it took about 15 minutes for an announcement over the loudspeaker system to explain what was going on and the new arrival time in Abuja etc. This is not acceptable as all passenger need to advise those meeting them on arrival of any delay. My office staff waited at the airport in Abuja for 3+ hours which would have been unnecessary with sufficient notice. Airline staff and crew also need more English training to properly serve passengers going to international destinations."

The check-in process in Madrid was so slow that we waited in line for more than an hour -- as two of the three Brussels Airlines employees moved in super slow motion and a third one chatted on the phone while processing passengers. Our flight took off one-hour late because 12 passengers did not get checked in in time. Some people missed or were told to run to make their connecting flights by the time we landed in Brussels. And we were told during the flights that we would have to pay for even a glass of water even though we were to fly across the Atlantic because we were not flying Brussels Airlines from and back to Washington. I am giving the trip one star because -5 is not one of the choices."

Cons: "Where to begin? During the booking process, there was no indication my travel partner and I would be flying Air Canada, and not Lufthansa. We were seated in the last row of the plane with painfully little legroom — even for two women of relatively small stature. The plane was not equipped with modern conveniences of operational wifi, music, or any other means of entertainment over the ten-hour flight. We were nearly an hour late to depart, but were unable to hear anything over the speakers regarding the cause for the delay, nor could we hear any of the flight attendants' safety instructions. What we could hear, however, was the surprisingly loud and nearly constant DINNNGGGG of the passengers' call buttons as they summoned the flight attendants. Because the flight was an overnighter, we attempted to sleep, but it was nearly impossible to do so due to the noise. I had earplugs in and could still hear the chimes, which were positioned right above our seats and made for an unpleasant experience and cranky travelers. The food was subpar as expected, but it would've been nice to be surprised with something resembling a fresh piece of fruit or vegetable. The flight crew was polite and one of the attendants took pity on us and offered a complimentary shot of whiskey, which partially alleviated the discomfort of the experience. That man is a saint and we surely hope he is better taken care of by this airline than we were. Overall a miserable experience. Will definitely rethink flying both Lufthansa and Air Canada in the future."

Then apparently neither airline can do anything to help me so I lose my entire flight cost because I booked through a third party. So I had to rebook a new flight at a premium cost just to get where I needed to go or risk losing my whole vacation. On top of that the baggage they lost is my backpack...hard to go backpacking across Norway with no backpack. Then they ship the backpack to the wrong airport, incorrectly wrote down my wrong cell number so they couldn't even call me...one cluster f*ck after another."

Employee @ IAD told me that if I didn't show up at the boarding gate 40 minutes prior to boarding that they would remove my luggage from airplane and that I could risk losing flight (wtf?). Icelandair is one of the worst airlines I have ever flown. I highly recommend looking elsewhere. They may offer rates 20% cheaper than other major carriers, but that discount accompanies a steep price. It's an airline run by inexperienced, lackluster, apathetic staff who, frankly, have no business operating an airline. If your options are flying with a major carrier vs Icelandair - and the price difference is a few hundred $: pay the extra money; you'll be glad you did. Icelandair's prices are not low enough to justify all the discomforts and liabilities which accompany them. Look elsewhere. Keep this in mind: I'm a seasoned flyer. This airlines barely ranks one notch up from Ryanair."

I didn't like the total lack of explanation or apology when it became clear that our luggage had seemingly been loaded on a later flight and that we were waiting for that plane to land. I didn't like that there are about 10 seats in the entire baggage hall, totally inadequate when a flightfull of people is waiting. Finally, I didn't like that it took 80 from the plane landing to my leaving the car park."
