Cons: "I fell sick and my doctor advised against flying. Tried calling Swiss Air and JustFly.com: 6 calls back and forth and 7 hours on hold, no help. Finally got advised on driving to the airport to make the flight change at the Swiss Air counter at O’Hare. The representative told me to bring a note from doctor to switch flights. I did the next day. The same representative looked me in the eye after advising the day before and said there’s nothing she could do. Why make an elderly sick person drive to the airport again if you know already you cannot help??Absolutely terrible experience, no help from the airline or travel agency. Total loss of the full price of the ticket."

If you fly with them don’t expect to kee anything under the seat with you. Also the whole boarding process is a big cluster! There is no real organization to the line or who they are boarding. Make sure you get in the line quickly or you could be waiting awhile."

I couldn’t even put my arms by my side without pushing my seat neighbors off. Seat in front of me was in my lap. Hard to get out of seat to use restroom. Way to tight. Long flight from Boston to Zurich was so hard to bear. I understand making money...but this is ridiculous!!"

Cons: "Extremely rigid rules. My flight was the day of the blizzard in Boston, Tues, 3/13. Despite 5 calls to Swiss to reroute me out of Montreal, an airport I could actually get to, they would not relent. I finally just drove there and a really nice agent changed my flight since Logan was closed and all public transport was shut down. Even if my scheduled flight from boston wasn't canceled (I have no idea) they were incredibly unhelpful about the fact that I physically could not get to logan in time for my flight. (Mass DOT was asking everyone to stay off ALL roads). THEN on the way home, they would NOT let me fly back to Montreal where my car was!! WAY TOO RIGID RULES. Screw the customer!"
Pros: "There was a very long line at the check in counter on the way back. Many people were nervous about missing their flights. Apparently the counter computers were out of order and they only had 2 stations to support the passengers at a very busy time. Other than that, everything was smooth and pleasurable."

Cons: "Checking in is very inefficient at JFK. There was only one (super slow) teller checking all of economy, while three people checked in business class. There were no automated check-in kiosks. you can imagine the chaos. Unfriendly tellers too. On the way back I was selected for a strip search when I checked in at the gate. So was my husband, but he wasn't told of this until he Was boarding and his ticket beeped on scanning. There was no room for our carry on, because we boarded so late. Annoying."

Cons: "Because there was no way for us to check in early or online and they did not send us an email directing us to do so, they put us on standby even though the flights were paid for months before. We couldn't sit together--they wouldn't even try, they let the computer do it randomly as we boarded. They put my son through ridiculous strip search security measures, and when my passport fell into to the steel bullet of a garbage can, they didn't help and my son and I figure out how to go through it to get my passport. They could not have been more unhelpful. Plus the food was terrible, and delays both in taking off and getting to the gate. I will NEVER fly Swiss Air again."

They wanted me to pay for my seat after already spending 1100. Then they said I was randomly selected for a TSA check in Zurich. Seriously. And there was no TSA agent in sight doing the check. It was a Swiss Airline Employee. Never had that happen even in the USA."

Cons: "The flight was scheduled for about 1pm and we arrived with another connecting flight to the Athens airport at 8am as that was our only choice. No staff arrived until 11am to check people in and take baggage. We were flying business and would have liked to check in earlier and make our way through security to the business lounge but could not and had to wait for three hours. It would have been nice to have one person on duty."

Pros: "I have a moderate fear of flying and our plane experienced turbulence while passing through some clouds. I asked the flight attendant if everything was okay, and he smiled and explained that there was some rain on the way to Switzerland. I really appreciate when the crew takes the time to explain what is going on. Knowing what to expect helps me deal with my fear. Because of the flight attendant's willingness to explain the details of our flight, I felt more comfortable during the remainder of the trip."

The Swiss air just said I should have picked it up from the booking and forced me to pay Euro 30, which I will claim back from Kayak. This is gross misrepresentation and on the same ticket flying a luggage was included."

It was obvious that we could not fly in the storm, but we were not informed about the likely departure time. The reason I gave a poor ranking is that my suitcase/pack must have been left out in the downpour on the top of the pile so all of my clothes were extremely wet when I reached Boston. The bag itself was wet so it was not a case of something leaking in the bag. I have had to wash all of the clothes and iron them."

So he ends up having to pay for another Lyft back to our apartment in Dallas, then another additional one for the 12 noon flight the next morning. If he didn't have family living in Dallas, he would've incurred a hotel fee too."

As a result we had to wait until all the passengers got off the plane to get back our luggage and we were the last two passengers to get off. Unpleasant!"

We arrived to the gate to start the boarding and they just told us wait here for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes we were asked to wait another 20 minutes. Only when we missed the take off time by 10 minutes they bothered to update us and inform us that the flight is being delayed in 2 hours."

Customer service contacted the plane immediately, but we were told they were not there. Clearly little effort was spent to find them and Austrian Airline has not helped."

So many minor delays, very little communication, and what there was, we couldn't even hear in the first place.

Flying on the 748 is a pleasure and it's a shame these great planes will eventually all be phased out in favor of more fuel efficient 787s and their Airbus counterparts."
Cons: "Having to pay 86€ for a second suitcase that weighed just 15kg. In JFK they didn't charge me but Germans always go by the book. I think for the price of the ticket and lower gasoline costs compared to the height of the recession this is simply outrageous. Next time I'll pay for economy plus. You get a seat that is wider than economy but a little bit less legroom than a business one and the second baggage is included. The meal was nothing special but the friendliness of the flight attendants made up for it."

Pros: "the magazine selection prior to flight, bottle of water in front of each seat and crew were great, the pilot's landing was amazing! The seat in front of me had weird legs that made the room under the seat smaller than other seats around me. So you couldn't fit in the carryon fully under it as you could under the seat diagonally from me, however, this ended up being a huge plus since I could use the legs of this chair in front of me as stepping places to place my feet during flight. Since airline does not provide foot rest, it was great to have this to elevate the feet for a long flight. More considerations should be give to provide footrest or at least these kind of foot elevations."
Cons: "The dinner and breakfast were a bit disappointing, but not bad and not a deal breaker at all since the rest of the flight was wonderful. I noted comfort as ok, but that's applies to all airlines - the seats in economy and no footrest is very uncomfortable, but that's on all economy flights, so no deduction of points there. I do want to note that I needed a boarding pass at the gate and stood in line for quite a while (I was first in line) before I was even acknowledged by a lady who ended up helping me eventually. But she was so cranky! (there were 2 ladies - one busy helping the crew and putting around barrier - she was fine, the other with a head covering (putting this hear just to distinguish the ladies as one was doing a great job)- not sure what she was doing, but she plainly ignored me standing at the desk in front of her, I didn't say anything, just patiently waited until she acknowledged me, and then she printed the boarding pass for me, but she was way to cranky to be in the job that she is in - no need for that kind of attitude."

Also, it was like 9-10pm local time by this point so dinner made no sense! Then the lights were dimmed and people tried to sleep. The lights were turned on 1.5 hrs prior to landing to serve a light breakfast. So, 6.5 hr red-eye turned into about 3.5 hrs of actual sleeping time. I would've preferred to be left alone and given a bigger breakfast."

Cons: "SAS has introduced hand luggage measurement and weighing at checkin, for a maximum of 17.5 lbs or 8 kg. SAS does not care if you have flown on another transatlantic carrier, which allows more than 8 kg. Then you need to start emptying your hand luggage at checkin. The whole checkin process was a big mess, the contract employees eg. at Heathrow do not help much (they probably do not do this to any other airline). SAS staff does not remind you to take your IDs and passport, medications etc. from your hand luggage, which is then checkedin luggage as opposed to hand luggage. It is obvious that transatlantic passengers have more hand luggage than many local passengers."

But, it was after hours on the airline number phone number and the fly.com customer service could not help with finding an alternate connection from Oslo to FRA. Cons: "We arrived at Berlin-Tegel two hours before our flight, as is generally recommended for air travel... to find that there was no one working to check us in to our flight, and no option for automated boarding passes. We had to wait for a half an hour before a desk attendant for SAS showed up to begin checking people in specifically for our flight. We were told by floor staff that desk staff usually don't even arrive until two hours before the flight they are supposed to check in. Then when they arrived we were told we had been waiting in the wrong line (priority) and had to get at the back of the regular line. There were no signs, so we had no way of knowing this. Then someone else told us one line was for if you already had your boarding pass, the other was for if you didn't: luckily we had chosen the right one, but a bunch of other people had to move again. One passenger mentioned to staff that it would really help if there were signs (there were monitors, but they were blank) but she was ignored. The line was massive and there was only one desk agent, so it took a long time. Anyway by the time we finally got through security we only had 20 minutes before boarding. I don't even know how everyone else behind us made it onto the flight, or if they did. At our gate there were literally ten seats in the waiting area. So of course everyone waiting for our flight was clustered around, standing awkwardly, and couldn't help blocking all the walkways. Then when we thought we were finally boarding the plane we just got onto a shuttle bus to go all the way across the airport to where our plane was waiting. Overall, pretty ridiculous. I have not flown out of Tegel before so I'm not sure how much of this fiasco was the airline's fault and how much was due to the airport itself. But we were very frustrated by the time we finally took off, and will probably avoid both (Tegel and SAS) in the future if at all possible."

The only thing I didn't like was the timing of the flight. Because my starting point was from somewhere other than Chicago, this made for a very long and tiring trip. I wouldn't recommend this flight for people flying from places other than Chicago."

We do not know if she is training , being rediculously conscientious, being too social or a power/control thing. We had plenty of time, I feel sorry for people who had tight connections. LOTS of people switched lines but we didn't know it would continue to be rediculous. There are stairs to climb from the gate which will be a problem for people with any physical issues ( bad knees). The plane took off late and this time we were nervous with a tight connection in Stockholm Location of Gate display is slower than most airports and we were told It changes at the last minute. We will avoid the Oslo airport in the future."
Cons: "8 years ago on similar flight from Lax to got, we had to retrieve checked bags in Sto, and then go through security. It was not clear at all on this trip if it was the same. SK agent at lax seemed unsure, Arlanda customer service agents at baggage in Arlanda also seemed unsure. We then learned from another airport worker at baggage they would go all the way through. It is very important to know since turn around time is very short, and I almost missed flight 8 years ago, and bags did miss it last time. Tks"

Generally annoyed with the experience."
