Everything seemed to be fairly updated except the bed. The bathroom was nicely updated and everything operated on clear controls. Lobby is nice, interesting artwork. The bed definitely needed to be replaced. The room also was difficult to work in as it only had a small table and the chair wasn't good for this task either. Toilet was so close to the vanity that I actually was forced over sitting on it.
Lobby Old mattresses blood on towels in two different rooms a/c broken elevator smelled of urine fridge broke and spoiled leftovers from 400 meal
The staff were friendly and so helpful. The rooms were beautiful. The location was wonderful. Easy to walk anywhere you want to go. Loved it. I will be back.
Easy location. Noise levels from road were quite loud. You can't sit in the bar area without buying a drink, even if you are a hotel patron. I had forgotten my phone charge and the hotel staff was not helpful in providing a temporary replacement, perhaps from lost and found. Instead I was referred to an overpriced in-house gift shop trying to sell me a micro-usb cable for 15-20$. Check-in is late at 4:00 pm. Room was tiny.
It has everything you could need in a compact package! Great location! If it had a mini fridge and microwave it would be the best place to stay in NYC for the money!
Location Everything other than location
Nice staff very helpful great experience front desk excellent would recommend highly
Location was great and staff were courteous. Decor is modern. Shower was dirty on arrival with hair from prior guest. When arriving we turned on the lights and a cockroach scurried across the floor. The room was hot and The air conditioner didn't work.
Location was great, staff was amazing and prices were unbelievable for a Manhattan stay during NY Now! David, the front desk manager really made us feel welcomed, especially since it was the first time we were traveling with our dog. We were treated with care and loved the size of our room #3212 and proximity to the subway. Would surely stay there again and in fact booked another Westin because of the experience.
Nothing. Third party booked stay then went bankrupt. No email or advance notice. Hotel receptionist extremely rude and antagonistic. Not enough decency to offer comparable rate to alleviate situation. Never again.
Clean and comfortable upscale hotel with a very friendly and accommodating staff. The restaurant pricing, especially for breakfast, is out of control.
Location good. No facility for making tea in the rooms. The extracters in the bathrooms did not work. Complementary Tea/coffee in lobby stopped at 7am.Basic internet facility should be complementary. the bathrooms are too small.
A lot of street noise and elevator noise from my room Are there any Whitehouse options?
Nice staff Generally clean Great Restaurant A great basic hotel for someone on business by themselves who does not need many extras. No real hotel lobby Machine coffee No real concierge Very small room for a couple with 2 suitcases No real breakfast (snack bars put out)
The staff was so nice and went above and beyond to be as helpful as they could. Mario was a wonderful door man that was able to compensate the trouble we had with our door. Chris and Danny helped my mom and I get metro cards so we could use the subway to travel around the city. Danny physically walked us to the train station to show us where to buy the metro cards. We had issues with the door to our room the entire stay, the key card wouldn't work after ten minutes of being programmed.
Location Good deals always have windows against next building with no view
Simplicity Small room, but it's ok
There was hot water and that's literally about the only thing I can think of that I liked about this hotel. If you've stayed at any other Curio hotel and are thinking this will be a similar experience, I've got bad news for you: this is an awful hotel. 1. The room layout is horrible, most of the rooms face the brick wall of an adjacent building (and you can hear their external AC window units running); 2. the AC is tiny and cannot properly cool the rooms (which are VERY tiny by NYC standards); 3. The elevators are slow, bumpy, and small causing you to wait 15 minutes to catch one not full of people and luggage; 4. The room service is not up to any normal standards. They have shampoo, conditioner, and body wash dispensers in the shower which are empty and surrounded by mold and mildew -- a health nightmare; 5. NOISE: expect to hear anyone cough, sneeze, turn on a lamp, or zip up a bag from an adjacent room or any room on your floor; and 6. Poor bathroom layout -- there is NO room to put anything on the counter in the bathroom. Don't expect to get ready very easily in this hotel as there is no full-length mirror either! This should NEVER received the Curio brand from Hilton. The hotel is by far the biggest disappointment I've ever seen as a Diamond member.
More dining, social areas
Location Service is awful, no room service, elevators services are horrible! You have to add 10' to your time to deal with
The service was absolutely stellar. And the rooms themselves are truly gorgeous. Plush, comfortable living in New York. Absolutely nothing wrong with where I stayed! No hiccups, I was well taken care of by the staff there. Aliana at the front desk is simply wonderful.
When we checked in, we were informed of an additional "resort" charge of $40 which is tacked on after the room is booked. It is apparently stipulated in the email confirmation but felt like a bait and switch to add this charge after the room is booked and confirmed. I'd also booked a room w/ a sofa bed for my 14YO but our room only had one bed. When I called the front desk, they said I could upgrade for a charge -- which also felt like a bait & switch. And finally, the cordless receiver's battery was running low and started beeping at 2AM. I finally had to wrap it in towels and put it in the closet so I could sleep. In fairness, the manager the following morning was very sweet and apologetic but prior to talking with him, the rest of the staff seemed unsympathetic about the issues. As someone who owns/operates a business serving the public, I know from experience that staff should be trained to contact a manager if a guest is disgruntled rather than waiting and letting them complain to a manager 24 hours later. At that point, the damage is done. And finally, the hotel uses a strange artificial scent in the common areas which smells terrible and gave us both a headache.
theme, staff, location, and cleanliness
Location and staff No way this is a 4.5 star hotel...the rooms are tiny, they don't even have room service
