We boarded at 11:00 pm, and landed at 5:20 am. Even though it was a fairly long flight, there was no food service. We did receive drinks however.
They cancelled my flight from San Diego to DFW and then provided NO help in rebooking. I tried rebooking via app but system kept said it’s busy and try again. I tried calling and am still on list for a call back. Ultimately I had to pay $600 to get a flight back on a different carrier because I needed to get to work on Monday. Then today I noticed they rebooked me on a flight for a completely different day. The cancellation was bad enough then the lack of communication unacceptable. They should refund me the $600 for the flight ticket I had to buy.
Asking the airline not to charge extra fees to the passenger just because it want a seat. Thank you!

Cons: "The boarding was a nightmare. D gates at SeaTac is my least favorite since you need to be shuttled by bus to the play. At that point, your elite or first class status is thrown out the window since it's a free for all to get on board as they pack you in the bus like sardines. It delayed the departure by 30 mins. Also, Alaska should look at getting entertainment sets in the back of the headrests."

I couldn't find my trip, BECAUSE I HAD BOOKED FOR THE WRONG DAY!. This could have been very stressful but an attendant near the (short) line asked me if needed help and immediately redirected me to the VIP line. There, I found another very short line, and smiling, enthusiastic staff. The young woman who helped me got my info, and walked away to get the problem solved with a supervisor. She returned a short time later, my boarding pass in hand, upgraded me to Premium seating and TSA pre check -- without me even asking! On the plane, I mostly slept, but when I woke up I found the attendant had left me my boxes snack which was a mix of nuts and dried fruit in a fancy package. The seats seemed more comfortable than they were in recent trips on United and Southwest. There were plugs everywhere for phone and device charging. There was free wifi(!!). And there were devices available for borrowing. There was even a website for free movie streaming. In a time when most other airlines have sour faced (need to retire!) attendants (Southwest an exception), and EVERYTHING is a la Carte pricing, it is so nice to fly with a company that tries to make passengers happy and comfortable. Don't expect your customers to be unconsciously aware of all of your convoluted business practices... put some signs out... we at least like a hint. Lack of communication between flight attendants at gate was the main reason for missing our flight, after 2 delays from the previous flight. When we got to the gate they closed it at that moment, earlier than it should have. A Mr. Fenney, person in charge at the gate, didn’t help much. Just went through the motion and as slow as possible trying to help us. It seemed he just wanted to pretend he was helping us. Worse was his attitude when telling is the gate has already closed, didn’t do anything to help us, nothing at all. We had to literally get information out of him. We then went to customer service were the same thing happened, a lack of care that we missed our flight due to things out of our control. Even to the point where the agent told us “be sure to be there on time this time”, like if it was our fault we missed it (we told her the details of our situation). Till this point they don’t seem to care. They left about 15 people, that i know of, hanging. If they had better comunication between gates and waited a miserably 5 more minutes (although they closed the gate earlier then they should have) everyone would have made it. Throughout the whole process we noticed that american airlines employees did not care that many on that first flight had connection flights. They were just going through the motion, slowly while all of us were a bit desperate knowing that the layover time was going to be very close."

Once it was finally fixed, the paperwork had a mess up. We didn't leave until at least 2:52 pm. Then, when we landed, the elevator for the luggage that was valeted stopped working for 4 minutes. I was nearly late to my connection to Paris. Instead of a 1 hr 55 min layover in DFW, I had 7 minutes from the time I finally got my suitcase to the time I got to the other terminal to board."

Pros: "Since online check-in did not work, my daughter and I were a little nervous that we had not been able to reserve seats together. Imagine our worry when we were told at the airport that we did not have seats at all! However, the BA agent calmly worked to get us seats .... and my daughter and I enjoyed business class for the first time in our lives! What an experience! Thank you so much!"

We had to book that trip ourselves & pay for it out of pocket , even though it was supposed to be part of this flight . If we hadn't gone online to check in the night before , we wouldn't have known about the cancellation till we showed up at the airport . Very disappointed with your service"

They wanted $950 to cancel the flight. An expensive lesson. Shop elseware!"

Pros: "Because the flight was about half full between Madrid and Dallas (a rather long flight!) and because my sweetheart and I were seated in the middle 5 seats alone, we were able to put the arm rests up and get some real sleep to acclimate to West Coast time (our final destination). I can never sleep very well sitting up. Also, the food and entertainment were pretty good. We were given two main meals and a few snacks in between, including chocolate ice cream, which I've never received on a plane before. All that in addition to the decent selection of recent movies available made for a relatively pleasant red eye flight."
Cons: "The entertainment system on the back of the seat was clearly outdated and the screens were not very reliable. While watching a movie, if the captain made an announcement, it was made in the headsets, too, as usual, but uncomfortably loud."

Cons: "Not enough newer movies for a 10+ hour flight. I am not a movie-buff but only managed to find 3 movies I had not seen before. Monitor for video was hazy and hard to see the movies with the overhead lights on the whole flight. Flight attendants for my area (business class upstairs) did not seem to want to be there, did the bare minimum, felt like the attendants you usually get on any airlines US domestic flights. Yes, daytime flight, but did the lights have to be on the whole flight? Had 6-8 kids in 10-15 year range that were running around the whole flight, maybe if the lights had been at least dimmed they could have settled down so the other travelers who would have liked to sleep could... Food servings were smaller than usual, but since it was also unusually uninspired and tasteless I guess that was ok. Plane was dirty (visibly so on, f.ex. the sides of seats, traytable, and bathroom) and it was not just from the ongoing journey but from previous flights."

Pros: "When we did get in the air, the flight seemed to go quickly and we got there fast."
Cons: "I upgraded to 1st class for both flights but the plane seating was very dismal and hadn't been upgraded in either of these planes for a long time. After we boarded the plane we were told that no drink, snacks or food would be offered. The attendant shut off the lights as soon as we got in the air and kept it dark in the cabin until 10 minutes before we landed. She never came around to check on us once or ask if we needed anything. I was so thirsty when we landed. I have decided that I will either go back to United Airlines or check out the 1st class options at American Airlines better next time. This might not have been their fault, I'm not sure what it was, but the flight was late landing and we took off an hour late as well which really put me behind schedule."

Cons: "During covid-19 they are not even attempting at providing a modicum of social distancing. Every seat in both of my flights was completely filled, meaning that we were squished up next to everyone despite any efforts to stay 6ft away from each other in the airports. Many passengers were wearing their masks incorrectly (not covering their nose, TAKING OFF THE MASK TO SNEEZE) and were not being asked to wear their mask properly by staff. I felt completely unsafe and won't be flying American again until there is a vaccine for covid."

Cons: "Things are getting smaller, we're paying more for less and less; it's all reducing except the cost. Generally flying is no longer 'special' it's kind of routine, like cattle herding--and the customer is the cattle."
Cons: "The flight boarded twenty minutes late despite the plane being at the gate early scheduled departure. Baggage took another forty minutes to load. Then they decided there we were overweight (data that should be known before the cargo was loaded) and off loaded two people. Then after another delay they realised that off loading people meant off loading their baggagge, total delay nearly 2 hours The hedset socket on the entertainment system did not work The USB port did not work THey ran out of food after serving three rows, loaded four sandwiches, no wraps and 2 cheese plates for a full evening flight that was over 5 hours in duration including the delays."
Cons: "The seats are extremely restrictive and in a aisle seat I had the gentleman sitting next to me with thighs touching and attendants brushing by me as I squished to left to avoid contact with him. Entertainment screen between center seat and window seat so I just didn't even try to look at it and mostly just leaned forward to have a little space. Also another inch or 2 was taken by person in front of me putting their seat back. With such restrictive space why is this even possible??? Flying has become ridiculous and I try not to as much as I can."

Cons: "We lost the conection because pre departure there swas an issue with one of the wings of the plane and took about 30 min. Afterwards after landing the plan had to wait another 15 minutes waiting for the gate. American Airlines atributed the issue to weather conditions in Vancouver, false."

There were 5 people trying to connect to the same flight so it’s pretty rediculous that we were told to rebook when the plane didn’t leave the gate for 15 more minutes. This was the call of the airline and it was handled poorly. The rebooking agent was also extremely rude and seemed totally self absorbed. This was my worst flying experience out of approximately 50 flights this year. Never again American."

Waited 20 min only to hear a bunch of lies about how they asked the flight attendant to look but she couldn’t find it - should have just walked back on plane to do it myself. Was told to “go online” and file a lost and found report. This is a small airport - TRI cities TN - absolutely zero customer focus by and American Airline employee - and I asked to sp all with a supervisor and manager with the hope I would get my phone back. Worst service and zero caring attitude I’ve dealt with - and I fly a lot. It will be Delta from here on out. I went on line and filed a complaint and lost and found report - am betting a large amount of money I hear nothing other than an automated reply."

End of flight huge queues at Dallas airport for security. After a long flight a passenger does not need to be corralled through excessively long winding lines."
Pros: "I had a connection flight to JFK I came before the time about 15 min and crew saw me but she told me, sorry someone took your seats I lost around 4000$. This happened at Dallas airport."

Cons: "The plane had one of those aggravating screens on the back of every seat. I turned it off AT LEAST EIGHT TIMES and it kept coming back on, first to try to sell me on a credit card offer, then to show me previews of movies I wasn't going to watch on a 5 AM FLIGHT that was lasting 75 MINUTES. I finally tore a page out of the AA magazine and wedged it against the screen so I could actually sleep without it constantly blinking on and disturbing me. Next time, I'm going to smash the screen. If I want it off, leave it off."

Cons: "Staff at the check-in counter made fun of my surname. Bad start but not noteworthy unless combined with the rest of the experience. The flight was delayed causing me to miss another AA connection by minutes. Waited in line to be told I wouldn't get on a flight til the following day, they couldn't help with accommodation and I wouldn't receive my luggage until the following day. In short, AA left me stranded in a strange city at midnight with no accommodation and no luggage. It was 18 degrees and I was in t-shirt and shorts. What a memory."

Cons: "American Airlines is running neck and neck with United, competing for the world’s worst airline. They have crammed so many seats onto their planes that I’m surprised it isn’t a health hazard. I was in an aisle seat and every time I started to fall asleep, someone going down the aisle slammed into me, making any sort of rest impossible. And the flight attendants had the typical U.S. flight attendant perma-rage, of course. I feel sorry for them, underpaid and overworked, but always p***ed off. Anerican Airlines needs to look at Emirates and other non-U.S. carriers to learn how to treat their passengers."
Cons: "I was on a flight to Dallas on an American Airline flight which arrived late due to weather conditions, and the connecting flight didn't even wait for me although they know why I couldn't make it on time. And I was only late for about 5 minutes."

I missed my flight because I had to go find it in baggage claim, take a taxi to another terminal, hoof it across the terminal to TSA pre-check which was 45 people deep and slow as a snail, then run to the gate (which was at the ooooother end I originally entered through). I missed my flight literally by 3 minutes. There was no one at the gate to help me, AA staff kept telling me to go to different places, getting a new flight was INSANE. The whole experience was a pure nightmare."

Door was still open but gate agent argued with the lady on 800 line about who could ticket faster. By time they finished arguing the door closed. That began a 14 hour nightmare of bumping between flights and delays and the inevitable lost luggage. Paid for $300 hotel room at Vancouver that I will get to stay in for 4 hours. Will NEVER fly American again"

You had to go through all the steps again and again every time you tried to simply check flight information. Annoying. When we arrived DFW customs, one of our bags was missing. Still in London. No surprise. LHR is awful. We would not see that bag again for nearly 4 days. They gave me some thing about a belt problem between T5 and T3 in LHR. We went from T3 to T3. No excuse. Probably fell off somewhere. Chocolates were a bit melted and chip bags burst. Whenever it was, it sat in heat."
