Pros: Beautiful. Comfortable, luxurious.
Cons: Staff assistance was hit or miss. Very frustrating. Some staff was very helpful. Others were not to the point of carelessness or rudeness. At this hotel I had expected service to be exquisite. Pros: The fitness center was incredible, espresso machine was incredible, the bathroom was amazing!
Cons: The room was a little small, and the view was not very great. We did think we were getting a room with a coffee table and couch..however we did not receive one. After talking to the staff, they said the room we got was the same square footage, just had both of those options, but they were the same price. They did later give us $30 credit. It would have been nice to have been given the room we picked, but that option was never offered to us. Not a huge deal, just something to remember, all in all, we will be back.

Cons: Only two things: 1) we paid for the faster wi-fi but it was still very sluggish. We ended up using the wi-fi thru our iPhones. The hotel took the wi-fi charge off once we had told them we weren't using the faster system. Also, there was some sort of thick blodgy stain on the frame of the mirror in the hallway. Pros: The restaurants were great and the staff was engaging and friendly. Most restaurants and tourist sites were within a 20 minute walk.

After telling the staff, we were given the same room type on the 21st floor. The staff told us it was an upgrade, though we were more interested in the view than the extra space. Cons: The room was smaller than what I thought it would be. I was disappointed to find out that the rooftop lounge was not open yet.

Pros: The spacious rooms and rain shower.
Cons: The resturant food was ok but way overpriced.

Pros: Good location. most staff very friendly and helpful. Good food for a relatively reasonable price.
Cons: Front desk understaffed and the least friendly/helpful of the staff. Temperature in both the bar and restaurant WAY too hot. Drinks overpriced. Registered guests should not have to pay for wifi in their rooms. Parking charge was ridiculous.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was best as I planned to be close to Michigan Avenue. Also the room and view were extremely nice.
Cons: The parking fee was a tad bit high, maybe usual for Chicago downtown area but came as a bit of a surprise.

Pros: The location on the Magnificent Mile was great and the hotel had 4 start features.
Cons: Chicago bars are pricey, compared to home, and this hotel's bar was no exception. You are paying for ambiance, higher taxes, and the increased overhead of the city.

Cons:

Pros: Great cocktail reception and amazing breakfast
Cons: Hotel porter loaded our truck with all the suitcases he had in the storage area. We got to the airport and we were missing 2 of my bags.We also had someone else’s bag. My daughter had to return to the hotel with the bag and get my bag.

Cons: The front desk lady was SO hateful. We arrived on 10am train and only went to hotel to store our luggage. She made it very clear NOT to come back until at least 1:30.We were tired so at 3 we returned."We only guarantee 4pm check in. Come back later" REALLY
7.0 Good
Pros: Very good location, central to a lot of food/shopping.
Cons: Most hotels I stay at have check-in around 3 and check out by noon, without asking for an extension. 4pm and 11am is even less time at the hotel which for a nice hotel seems odd. Also no self-park which the other Embassy downtown has available.

Pros: The environment. It had this alt/bohemian/vintage vibe that I loved.
Cons: I was expecting a somewhat bigger room since I shared it with three other people. But, it was good for the price I payed and for a night.
7.0 Good
Pros: I love the thick blanket and big towel, yet the comfortable bunk.
Cons: What bothering me most is the security guy in front of the door of the bar (or whatever). He always asked me for my ID whenever I wanted to go inside at night. I understand the U.S has a rule of drinking age but don't you guys have a way to keep the information of your customers and let them in? There doesn't seem to be any chair to sit at night except the corridors to the rooms because the bar room requires an ID all the time. Not comfortable at all. The kitchen is small and doesn't look lively. The breakfast was pretty poor because the buffet area was under refurnishment.

Cons: No mini fridge in room. Couldn't figure out how to unlock the mini bar.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Ok. While everything eventually got fixed the bulb in the bathroom makeup burned out, the drain drained slowly, hot water issue, tub faucet hard to maneveur between hot and cold, and daily they checked for the mini bar which I never used. That being said staff were very kind courteous prompt and got things fixed. Much appreciated the microwave and frig Thks Paula

Cons: They do need to upgrade the elevator was stuck for a second in there with some people.

Pros: I loved the history of the hotel and the location was pretty good. The martini bar served an excellent martini.
Cons: I thought the rooms were rather small and ordinary for a 4 star hotel. Very little has been done to bring home the history of the hotel.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: My room was comfortable and clean, and it had a very nice seating area and desk that was separate from the sleeping area.
Cons: This is an historic hotel, so heating and cooling is not as modern as a more recently built hotel would be. I would've liked my room to be cooler but at this time of year, December, heating is the only option or off, which is what I chose. It was cold enough outside that the room was cool enough.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Close to Mag mile & restaurants
Cons: Silva at check in was not pleasant, check in took a long time, stains on hallway carpets, concierge interrupted my check in twice, third time was a phone call. Pricey bfast menu. 3rd floor...building view, blah

Pros: the bar was fantastic
Cons: change the carpet, more towels, and washcloths
1.0 Poor
Pros: Price and location
Cons: Not a 4-star hotel by any means. Old and dumpy room with stained carpets, lack of linen, small bathrooms, small elevator, no coffee in room, no alarm clock in room, no vending machines or available snack (or even water) avail at times.
7.0 Good
Pros: location
Cons: not sure it's really 4-star... it was a little beat up
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was phenomenal. @ doors down from the Hancock, and a block from Michigan Avenue. Amazing views and the hotel was very upscale looking.
Cons: Room wasn't ready when we got there, and it was also pretty warm. Turned the AC way down, but it still didn't cool it enough. You could also hear everything perfectly clear through the doors.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The rooms were very hot. Could never get the room to a comfort temperature.
Cons: Room temperature
8.0 Excellent
Pros:
Cons: Might be time to think about buying some new mattresses. Your beds are shot. Also, the rap music blaring from your coffee shop, was a little off-putting.
5.1 Okay
Pros: No room service! Best thing is the vintage facade and location right off Michigan Ave
Cons: Service was lacking in total. Basic room service and maintenance would have changed everything. Gnats filled the bathroom!
6.0 Good
Pros: Location to Michigan Avenue and Luries children
Cons: Room was so hot. Could not hav a comfortable night
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Location close to Michigan Avenue.
Cons: Couldn’t adjust heat temp and had to keep windows open all night and we let front desk know. There wasn’t anything open after 11:00 for food or drinks and we went to bar and they were closing in 20 minutes and said they had already did last call. We walked to find food around hotel and bottle of water and they didn’t even have a vending machine. Had to drink tap water out of bathroom. Also, bathroom does not have a counter so I had to put my bad on floor to get ready. More annoying than anything.
6.3 Good
Pros: It was spacious and roomy. There was plenty of space in the main living room. There was also a bed which you could pull down near the study area.
Cons: There was no drinking water in the room. Normally there is a bottle of water when I goto a nice hotel. For something that looks good, I was very surprised there were none. There were only 2 cups and we booked for 4 people! There wasn't even any complementary tea/coffee in the room. Not even a water boiler to boil our our water. I thought it was below standard for what this hotel has to offer.
7.0 Good
Pros: It was a good location
Cons: Parking was costly and difficult to find a place with in and out privileges
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Location
Cons: The room, no room service, the television, the lack of any information. For instance, a small cup of coffee in the makeshift "cafe" is free to guests, who I ordered a medium I was not told this.

Cons: Everythjng. staff is evil
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I really liked the location. It was very close to everything.
Cons: The bathroom was small. There was also only one power strip in our room to plug things in.
4.0 Okay
Pros: We have stayed at this hotel many, many times over the past 20 years. We love the location and the price.
Cons: Last year when we stayed, the room was very small, furnishings outdated and old and had a terrible view. This year the room was very spacious, but the furnishings in the living area were awful. The mirror in the bathroom Was black on the bottom, the couch was broken and terribly uncomfortable as was the one chair. The top of the coffee table was completely warped. Such a shame! If they want ‘return’ guests, they really need to spend some money and update the hotel.

Cons: Nothing.
6.0 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: This hotel is old and dated and as a result they are in need of a total overhaul from new faucets that don’t leak all night to phones that work (we couldn’t even use to call front desk) to new tiles and carpet that didn’t look dingy a

Pros: The design and decor of the lobby and bar area were amazing but once I reached my room I was not happy because I was expecting more from what I previously saw.
Cons: My room was dirty, the ice machines on my floor and the next top and bottom floors were not working or present. I did not like how the TV remote offered a movie button but there were no in room selections of movies available. It was noisy.

Pros: the location was great, but I think the owners use this location to prevent the need to update the hotel and keep it clean
Cons: the building is very run down: peeling and molding wallpaper, dead bug swashed on walls, "blood"(or something) on the inside of our bedroom door, heater falling off the wall, bathroom walls and cabinets falling apart (I have photos if you'd like to see)
