Travelers who are Bulgarian citizens and their family members, citizens who hold permanent and long-term residency including their family members, citizens of Member States of the European Union (EU), Schengen Parties and other selected countries including their family members, persons holding a Bulgarian long-stay visa type "D", medical workers, officials, diplomats, military personnel, humanitarian workers, students, representatives of the trade, economic and investment activities and persons with essential reasons are allowed to enter Bulgaria.
Visitors from Canada must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departing to Bulgaria.
Visitors from Canada are not required to quarantine after entering Bulgaria.
Travelers who do not have a negative PCR test performed in the last 72 hours will be required to self-isolate at home for 10 days. Bulgarian citizens, residents, and their immediate family members may opt to undertake a mandatory 10-day quarantine period upon arrival to Bulgaria in lieu of providing evidence of a negative PCR test result.
The option of a 10-day quarantine on arrival, in lieu of a PCR test for people legally resident in Bulgaria, can be shortened if they present a negative PCR test performed within 24 hours of arriving in Bulgaria. The quarantine requirement will be revoked within 24 hours of submitting the document demonstrating the negative PCR test result.
Travelers returning from Bulgaria must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departure to Canada.
Children under the age of 5 are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 test, other exemptions includes, a crew member or a person who seeks to enter Canada only to become such a crew member, emergency service providers, technical stops – flights refueling.
Travelers are required to take a COVID-19 test on arrival in Canada at their own expense. Travelers are also required to take another COVID-19 molecular test on day 8 of their 14-day quarantine. They will receive a COVID-19 test kit and instructions before leaving the airport/border. Those who refuse will receive a $750 fine.
Visitors returning from Bulgaria will need to quarantine for 14 days upon entering Canada.
Travelers are subject to a 14-day mandatory quarantine, this includes a mandatory 3 night pre-paid booking at a government-authorized hotel, at their own expense (approximately 2,000 CAD) and take a COVID-19 molecular test on arrival at their own cost.
Towards the end the quarantine period, travelers will be required to take another COVID-19 test. they will be required to stay in their place of quarantine until they receive a negative test result.
Certain persons are exempt from the mandatory quarantine requirement when entering Canada for the purposes of performing an essential job or function as identified in the Order under the Quarantine Act. Exemption will be validated for each entry into Canada.
