COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Visitors from Canada must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) or Antigen (quick-test) test taken 72 hours before departing to Jamaica.

Exceptions

Children under the age of 12 are exempt from testing requirements.

Effective on March 4, passengers traveling on business are subject to a COVID-19 RT-PCR test upon arrival, at their own expense.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors from Canada will need to quarantine for 14 days upon entering Jamaica.

Details and exceptions

Quarantine in Jamaica is dependent on the following:

Jamaicans and Residents – They will need to quarantine at home or in a government facility determined by the health authorities for 14 days from their date of entry to the country regardless of the result of the required testing prior to arrival to the country.

Non-residents visiting Jamaica for tourism purposes – Upon arrival, they will be tested again even if they present a negative PCR test. If the result is negative, they would leave the confines of their hotel room and continue their stay in Jamaica. Otherwise, they would be isolated either at the hotel/resort or in a government facility as determined by the health authorities.

Non-residents visiting Jamaica for business purposes for less than 14 days – Upon arrival at the airport, they will be tested again. If the test is negative, they would be released from quarantine. Otherwise, they would be required to isolate either at their hotel/intended address or in a government facility as determined by the health authorities. Business travelers will be required to pay for the test to be conducted on arrival.

Non-residents visiting Jamaica for other purposes including tourists not staying within the “resilient corridor” – On arrival in Jamaica, travelers will undergo a health screening and risk assessment and may still be required to be tested at the airport or designated facility, if for example, they are exhibiting symptoms despite presenting a negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate to board their flight.

Fully vaccinated persons will be required to quarantine for up to 8 days while persons not vaccinated or not fully vaccinated will be required to remain in quarantine at home for 14 days from their date of entry to Jamaica regardless of the result of their second test.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Travelers returning from Jamaica must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departure to Canada.

Exceptions

Children under the age of 5 are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 test, other exemptions includes, a crew member or a person who seeks to enter Canada only to become such a crew member, emergency service providers, technical stops – flights refueling.

Travelers are required to take a COVID-19 test on arrival in Canada at their own expense. Travelers are also required to take another COVID-19 molecular test on day 8 of their 14-day quarantine. They will receive a COVID-19 test kit and instructions before leaving the airport/border. Those who refuse will receive a $750 fine.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors returning from Jamaica will need to quarantine for 14 days upon entering Canada.

Details and exceptions

Travelers are subject to a 14-day mandatory quarantine, this includes a mandatory 3 night pre-paid booking at a government-authorized hotel, at their own expense (approximately 2,000 CAD) and take a COVID-19 molecular test on arrival at their own cost.

Towards the end the quarantine period, travelers will be required to take another COVID-19 test. they will be required to stay in their place of quarantine until they receive a negative test result.

Certain persons are exempt from the mandatory quarantine requirement when entering Canada for the purposes of performing an essential job or function as identified in the Order under the Quarantine Act. Exemption will be validated for each entry into Canada.
