Travelers who are not EU/Schengen nationals or traveling within the Schengen zone may only enter the country for an "essential" reason.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Visitors from Canada must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 48 hours before departing to Slovenia.

Exceptions

Except travelers with proof of COVID-19 vaccination showing that at least 7 days have passed since taking the 2nd dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine(Comirnaty), at least 14 days since the 2nd dose of the Moderna vaccine, at least 21 days since the 1st dose of the AstraZeneca(Vaxzevria or Covishield),at least 14 days have passed since the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by Sinopharm.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors from Canada are not required to quarantine after entering Slovenia.

The isolation period can be shortened

Travelers can take a COVID-19 PCR test on day 5 and end quarantine with negative results.

Details and exceptions

Those without valid test results must quarantine for 10 days on arrival.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Travelers returning from Slovenia must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departure to Canada.

Exceptions

Children under the age of 5 are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 test, other exemptions includes, a crew member or a person who seeks to enter Canada only to become such a crew member, emergency service providers, technical stops – flights refueling.

Travelers are required to take a COVID-19 test on arrival in Canada at their own expense. Travelers are also required to take another COVID-19 molecular test on day 8 of their 14-day quarantine. They will receive a COVID-19 test kit and instructions before leaving the airport/border. Those who refuse will receive a $750 fine.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors returning from Slovenia will need to quarantine for 14 days upon entering Canada.

Details and exceptions

Travelers are subject to a 14-day mandatory quarantine, this includes a mandatory 3 night pre-paid booking at a government-authorized hotel, at their own expense (approximately 2,000 CAD) and take a COVID-19 molecular test on arrival at their own cost.

Towards the end the quarantine period, travelers will be required to take another COVID-19 test. they will be required to stay in their place of quarantine until they receive a negative test result.

Certain persons are exempt from the mandatory quarantine requirement when entering Canada for the purposes of performing an essential job or function as identified in the Order under the Quarantine Act. Exemption will be validated for each entry into Canada.
