Unvaccinated visitors from Canada need to provide a negative COVID-19 test result and quarantine to enter Barbados.
For restrictions that apply to vaccinated visitors, please check the official guidelines from Barbados for the types of accepted and permitted COVID-19 vaccinations, requirements on proof of vaccination certificates, vaccination validity period, and persons and/or groups that may be exempt from vaccination restrictions.

Barbados entry details and exceptions

New entry and quarantine protocols for vaccinated travelers will take effect on May 8, 2021.

Travelers must download and install the BIMSafe app and complete the online Immigration/Customs form at least 24 hours prior to travel. Travelers in transit or are unable to download BIMSafe can go to https://www.travelform.gov.bb/home to fill out online Immigration/Customs form and upload their PCR test results.

Specific travelers who have non-standard circumstances that need to be addressed are advised to contact The Ministry of Health and Wellness via covid19hotline@barbados.gov.bb at least 72 hours prior before travel to have their requests investigated and facilitated. These include: diplomats; persons with a medical condition warranting special consideration (to be certified by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO)); persons with a disability or traveling with persons with disabilities.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Visitors from Canada must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departing to Barbados.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors from Canada will need to quarantine for 5 days upon entering Barbados.

Details and exceptions

On arrival, travelers may be required to take a rapid COVID-19 antigen test at the airport before entering quarantine.

All travelers are subject to a mandatory quarantine in their rooms/suites until they have been cleared by the Ministry of Health and Wellness. They will have to take a second COVID-19 PCR test 5 days after the time of their arrival. A negative PCR test result will be required to end the quarantine period.

Travelers will undergo monitoring that includes daily self-temperature checks and sharing that information via call or text or via the BIMSafe app. Travelers must travel with their own thermometer. Monitoring is generally for 7 days after arrival.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Travelers returning from Barbados must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departure to Canada.

Exceptions

Children under the age of 5 are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 test, other exemptions includes, a crew member or a person who seeks to enter Canada only to become such a crew member, emergency service providers, technical stops – flights refueling.

Travelers are required to take a COVID-19 test on arrival in Canada at their own expense. Travelers are also required to take another COVID-19 molecular test on day 8 of their 14-day quarantine. They will receive a COVID-19 test kit and instructions before leaving the airport/border. Those who refuse will receive a $750 fine.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors returning from Barbados will need to quarantine for 14 days upon entering Canada.

Details and exceptions

Travelers are subject to a 14-day mandatory quarantine, this includes a mandatory 3 night pre-paid booking at a government-authorized hotel, at their own expense (approximately 2,000 CAD) and take a COVID-19 molecular test on arrival at their own cost.

Towards the end the quarantine period, travelers will be required to take another COVID-19 test. they will be required to stay in their place of quarantine until they receive a negative test result.

Certain persons are exempt from the mandatory quarantine requirement when entering Canada for the purposes of performing an essential job or function as identified in the Order under the Quarantine Act. Exemption will be validated for each entry into Canada.
