COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Visitors from Canada must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departing to Belgium.

Exceptions

Children under the age of 6 and residents of Belgium are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 PCR-RT test result.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors from Canada will need to quarantine for 10 days upon entering Belgium.

The isolation period can be shortened

After 7 days of quarantine, travelers can get a test. If the test is negative, travelers do not need to quarantine further.

Details and exceptions

Residents returning from a red zone and staying there for more than 48 hours must undergo a mandatory test on day 1 and day 7 of quarantine.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Travelers returning from Belgium must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departure to Canada.

Exceptions

Children under the age of 5 are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 test, other exemptions includes, a crew member or a person who seeks to enter Canada only to become such a crew member, emergency service providers, technical stops – flights refueling.

Travelers are required to take a COVID-19 test on arrival in Canada at their own expense. Travelers are also required to take another COVID-19 molecular test on day 8 of their 14-day quarantine. They will receive a COVID-19 test kit and instructions before leaving the airport/border. Those who refuse will receive a $750 fine.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors returning from Belgium will need to quarantine for 14 days upon entering Canada.

Details and exceptions

Travelers are subject to a 14-day mandatory quarantine, this includes a mandatory 3 night pre-paid booking at a government-authorized hotel, at their own expense (approximately 2,000 CAD) and take a COVID-19 molecular test on arrival at their own cost.

Towards the end the quarantine period, travelers will be required to take another COVID-19 test. they will be required to stay in their place of quarantine until they receive a negative test result.

Certain persons are exempt from the mandatory quarantine requirement when entering Canada for the purposes of performing an essential job or function as identified in the Order under the Quarantine Act. Exemption will be validated for each entry into Canada.
