Croatia entry details and exceptions

Persons who travel for tourist reasons need to have a certificate of paid accommodation in a hotel, camp, private renter or rented vessel and another form of tourist accommodation or are owners of houses or vessels in the Republic of Croatia

Vaccinated travelers are allowed if they present a COVID-19 vaccination certificate (the final dose must be administered at least 14 days before arrival).

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Visitors from Canada must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) or Antigen (quick-test) test taken 48 hours before departing to Croatia.

Exceptions

A certificate of vaccination (any vaccine) for persons whose final dose of the COVID-19 vaccine is more than 14 days prior to crossing the border will also be accepted.

Travelers can also present a positive PCR or rapid antigen test, confirming that the holder recovered from the SARS-CoV-2 virus infection, which was performed in the previous 180 days, and older than 11 days from the date of arrival at the border crossing point or upon presentation of a certificate of recovery issued by a physician;

or perform PCR testing or rapid antigen testing on SARS-CoV-2 immediately upon arrival in the Republic of Croatia (at their own expense), with the obligation to stay in self-isolation until the arrival of a negative test result. If testing cannot be performed, a measure of self-isolation is determined for a period of ten (10) days. More information here.

Visitors from Canada are not required to quarantine after entering Croatia.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Travelers returning from Croatia must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departure to Canada.

Exceptions

Children under the age of 5 are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 test, other exemptions includes, a crew member or a person who seeks to enter Canada only to become such a crew member, emergency service providers, technical stops – flights refueling.

Travelers are required to take a COVID-19 test on arrival in Canada at their own expense. Travelers are also required to take another COVID-19 molecular test on day 8 of their 14-day quarantine. They will receive a COVID-19 test kit and instructions before leaving the airport/border. Those who refuse will receive a $750 fine.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors returning from Croatia will need to quarantine for 14 days upon entering Canada.

Details and exceptions

Travelers are subject to a 14-day mandatory quarantine, this includes a mandatory 3 night pre-paid booking at a government-authorized hotel, at their own expense (approximately 2,000 CAD) and take a COVID-19 molecular test on arrival at their own cost.

Towards the end the quarantine period, travelers will be required to take another COVID-19 test. they will be required to stay in their place of quarantine until they receive a negative test result.

Certain persons are exempt from the mandatory quarantine requirement when entering Canada for the purposes of performing an essential job or function as identified in the Order under the Quarantine Act. Exemption will be validated for each entry into Canada.
