COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Visitors from Canada must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 96 hours before departing to Kenya.

Exceptions

All travellers under the age of 18 will only require a certificate of COVID-19 negative PCR test to enter Kenya.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors from Canada are not required to quarantine after entering Kenya.

All travellers and residents travelling to Kenya via any route who have a valid COVID-19 PCR test, but do not have a valid COVID-19 vaccination certificate, will be subject up to 14 days mandatory quarantine on arrival at a Government of Kenya designated facility at their own cost (List of available Government-designated quarantine facilities: Royal Tulip Hotel (Chaka Road); Waridi Paradise (Hurlingham); Kings Premier (Mlolongo); Violets Serviced Apartments (Jacaranda Nairobi); Institute Leone De Love (Uthiru).

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Travelers returning from Kenya must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departure to Canada.

Exceptions

Children under the age of 5 are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 test, other exemptions includes, a crew member or a person who seeks to enter Canada only to become such a crew member, emergency service providers, technical stops – flights refueling.

Travelers are required to take a COVID-19 test on arrival in Canada at their own expense. Travelers are also required to take another COVID-19 molecular test on day 8 of their 14-day quarantine. They will receive a COVID-19 test kit and instructions before leaving the airport/border. Those who refuse will receive a $750 fine.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors returning from Kenya will need to quarantine for 14 days upon entering Canada.

Details and exceptions

Travelers are subject to a 14-day mandatory quarantine, this includes a mandatory 3 night pre-paid booking at a government-authorized hotel, at their own expense (approximately 2,000 CAD) and take a COVID-19 molecular test on arrival at their own cost.

Towards the end the quarantine period, travelers will be required to take another COVID-19 test. they will be required to stay in their place of quarantine until they receive a negative test result.

Certain persons are exempt from the mandatory quarantine requirement when entering Canada for the purposes of performing an essential job or function as identified in the Order under the Quarantine Act. Exemption will be validated for each entry into Canada.
