Unvaccinated visitors from Canada will not be allowed to enter Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia entry details and exceptions

In response to the spread of a new strain of COVID19, the Ministry of Interior announced the suspension of entry into Saudi Arabia from 20 countries, including the UK, effective from 6pm GMT Wednesday 3 February. The suspension is also applicable to travellers who have visited or transited any of the listed countries 14 days prior to entering Saudi Arabia. Health workers, diplomats and Saudi nationals, and their families are exempt from the suspension.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Visitors from Canada must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departing to Saudi Arabia.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors from Canada will need to quarantine for 7 days upon entering Saudi Arabia.

The isolation period can be shortened

self-isolate at home for 7 day from the date of entry, take a COVID test on the 6th day before ending quarantine.

Details and exceptions

The Saudi authorities require anyone who has returned to Saudi Arabia from a European country, or any country where the new strain of COVID-19 has appeared, after December 8, to: self-isolate at home for 7 day from the date of entry, take a COVID test on the 6th day before ending quarantine. Travelers from all other countries are required to self-isolate at home for 7 days, or 3 days followed by a negative PCR test.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Travelers returning from Saudi Arabia must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken 72 hours before departure to Canada.

Exceptions

Children under the age of 5 are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 test, other exemptions includes, a crew member or a person who seeks to enter Canada only to become such a crew member, emergency service providers, technical stops – flights refueling.

Travelers are required to take a COVID-19 test on arrival in Canada at their own expense. Travelers are also required to take another COVID-19 molecular test on day 8 of their 14-day quarantine. They will receive a COVID-19 test kit and instructions before leaving the airport/border. Those who refuse will receive a $750 fine.

Quarantine requirements

Visitors returning from Saudi Arabia will need to quarantine for 14 days upon entering Canada.

Details and exceptions

Travelers are subject to a 14-day mandatory quarantine, this includes a mandatory 3 night pre-paid booking at a government-authorized hotel, at their own expense (approximately 2,000 CAD) and take a COVID-19 molecular test on arrival at their own cost.

Towards the end the quarantine period, travelers will be required to take another COVID-19 test. they will be required to stay in their place of quarantine until they receive a negative test result.

Certain persons are exempt from the mandatory quarantine requirement when entering Canada for the purposes of performing an essential job or function as identified in the Order under the Quarantine Act. Exemption will be validated for each entry into Canada.
